Amaranthé Bay – Hotel Staff Help the Elderly
Hotel Staff Help the Elderly
As everyone knows, Amaranthé Bay is of course a Resort for relaxation and fun. But we’re also a resident of the wonderful growing community of Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. A community that is reaching out from it’s past and into a prosperous future, and it is our privilege to take part in that transformation.
With that, we have created our own Community Service Responsibility(CSR) program in which we look for opportunities to improve our beloved city.
Recently, we approached the Reverend Sister of the Holy Cross Convent to ask for her wisdom on how we might improve the lives of our community. With much gratitude, she proposed that the residents of the St. Joseph Elder’s Home might be in need of some assistance. For which she is the Superior of. She offered that restoration of their living hall, dormitories and wash rooms would greatly improve their quality of life. Happily, we accepted the challenge and set to work immediately!
20 staff from the hotel jumped into action and devoted their combined energy to the task. With much success we were able to replace 4 commode seats, repair all the defective taps and bidet showers and restored the wash rooms to sparkling perfection. And for the staff it was a unique opportunity on how we might offer respect and compassion to seniors all across the country who have gone before us in life.
We began our work at 9am and finished at 3pm. On the whole, a small effort compared to the positive change being made. Our Elders have a happier home and they had the opportunity to smile, laugh and create fresh new happy memories with us. A job well worth doing.
Cheers to the staff who changed lives that day!
