Paul & Claire’s Wedding
“Where there is love there is life.” Our bright and happy newlyweds Paul & Claire show plenty of life in their love for one another. Already just married, we decided to give the newlyweds an opportunity to celebrate their union in another way. Sri Lanka style! To our delight they eagerly accepted our offer to magically transform their honeymoon into a second ceremonious exchanging of love.
After clothing Bride & Groom in ceremonial Pattu Saree and Pattu Veti they exchanged flower garlands three times to begin their holy union. Filling in for far away family members, we happily performed traditional blessings to welcome the couple into marriage after which they gift each other with banana & milk to reinforce their love. Then it’s time for quite an important game. Fishing the rings! Both bride & groom play this game by attempting to be the first to “fish” the ring out of the pot. A very important game as elders tell us that the winner will have the upper hand in marriage. So if you want to win those couples quarrels you’ll want to win this game!
After some much deserved relaxing, Paul & Claire are escorted to the grand Salli Temple to receive blessings. While they hold the silver tray the Hindu chief priest blesses them with 100 years of love and prosperity. With traditions fulfilled and blessings enacted our lovely new couple steps out of the temple and into a new world that is blessed by their love once more.
We hope you have treasured these moments with us Paul & Claire, as we have with you. Hopefully one day we will see you again.
